I once met a man selling SEO Services to the dental industry. I was intrigued by how well he was doing growing his business, and asked him about his SEO process.
He said
“Its easy, my client tells me he isn’t ranking for something, I tell him its another keyword, and tell them for 50 bucks, I’ll take care of it. Setup their billing for another $50/month, and call my offshore guys and pay them $5.”
What a CROCK! He didn’t even track if the keyword phrase was successful, didn’t check to see if there was any search volume to justify the investment, didn’t even know what was done to make that investment impactful. And clients were eating it up. He went on to tell me…

That luck should occasionally cause his clients to make the front page is one thing. For him to not even be aware of it, something all together different.
Small Businesses today can so easily fall prey to a huckster that is a great salesperson, with no clue what they are doing. These hucksters resell offshore services without the slightest knowledge if those practices hurt, help, or make no difference at all.
