When you try to save a few bucks hosting

I hate these stories.

So, we have this client with their own server, and they wanted us to host their site on their server to save the fees for hosting.

The site is  now infected, literally thousands of files, and now we need to see if the virus/malware jumped from web server partition to working partition.

It’s going to be a late late night.

Note to everyone – your hosting provider should NOT be relying just on malware detection running on wordpress.  Firewalls should check inbound traffic, the operating system should be running constant malware and virus scans, and, you should be running virus/malware scans within WordPress.  Now all that checking eats up resources, and if you are on a cheap host, or your own server, it will bog you down.

It is far better to leave this to the guys that know how.  Personally I’ve spent far too many days cleaning up these messes to not have multiple layers of protection.
