“Why am I Not Getting Clients from my website”
What a GREAT Internet Marketing Question!
All of internet marketing boils down to only 3 things.
- Is there demand for what I have to offer.
- How Do I get people to my digital marketing presence.
- How Do I get visitors to “take action” once reach my online presence.
Not that I talk to digital marketing presence, because your online presence might be a website, or it could be a linked in profile, or a Google My Business page, or a Facebook Page. Internet marketing is no longer “put up a website”, but “be where people are looking for what I have to offer” I have once client that consistently gets multiple listings on the front page of Google for Yoghurt Shoppes in Boca Raton, and they do not even HAVE a webpage – only a great FaceBook Presence. Dozens of people a day visit their FaceBook as well. It’s not just the webpage anymore!
1. Is there demand for what I have to offer?
In the old days, that was a very difficult question. I remember as a young professional standing with a clipboard full of questionaires trying to get shoppers in a shopping center to spend 5 minutes to answer basic questions, and it was called market research. So, lets look at the new way. One of the simplest tools is Google – people turn to Google to look for things. Therefore, use google in reverse and ask – are people looking for “This”
So, here is compare and contrast marriage counseling, online marriage counseling courses, relationship counseling, courses. Go ahead – do your own lookups.
Courses is a bust, and there is plenty of search for marriage counseling – below that though it shows where your search volume is greatest, globally, in the US, or even state by state.
We live in a supply and demand world – therefore knowing the demand (by search volume) is only half the equation. Supply is how many websites cater to the demand. Go to Google again. Create a free Adwords account, even if you don’t intend to advertise on Google – the account is free. Go to Google Adwords Tools – and you will find the adwords tool that will tell you.. Demand is X and Supply is Y. You usually want to find a niche, somewhere that there is not huge supply relative to demand, this is typically expressed as a ratio so that you can compare disparate search volumes. The ratio is called the KEI.
I also use Raven Tools for keyword research, and several other tools. Fiverr is a great place to get onetime keyword research done for $5. It saves you from buying a subscription to a service that can costs hundreds a month.
Once you have determined you have Demand, and are not inundated with competition for your unique niche, time to move to #2. Getting people to the site.
